![]() Air Quality
The next time you pass by a limestone quarry, take a look at the trees. You’re likely to see branches and leaves caked in dust, as if a snowstorm somehow made its way to Central Texas. You won’t see that at KBDJ. The trees are virtually dust-free, as is the air around them.
We take great pride in our dust suppression program. We employ a water truck that constantly waters down the roads that lead out of the quarry site. Plus, KBDJ invested in a rock crusher that is covered on three sides, preventing dust from escaping into the air. Recently, KBDJ agreed to participate in the Texas Emissions Reduction Plan, which requires that we replace a loader with a newer, low-emission loader. ![]() The TCEQ requires all quarries to apply for an air quality permit to conduct operations. KBDJ was granted an operating permit after the TCEQ Commissioners determined that the emissions controls technologies we use are the best available, and that KBDJ will achieve all applicable standards for reducing and controlling dust.
